Low Floor Specials
Bluebird Low Floor Specials are offered in two basic configurations:
- 4 x 2 configuration based upon the Bluebird “Tucana” low floor accessible minibus
- 6 x 2 configuration based upon the Bluebird “Auriga” low floor accessible minibus
The full length Low Flat Floor and monocoque body / chassis construction gives maximum usable space and accessibility, in a smaller and lighter vehicle than would otherwise be possible.
Positions of entrance doors and emergency exits (if required) are flexible, as are windows, roof lights and other body fixtures.
Vehicles can be offered with manual or automatic transmission, kneeling suspension, electronic front destination / information equipment mounted in a canopy above windscreen, and many other options.
Door can be single (1000 mm wide) or double (1350 mm wide) electric plug door types, or manually closed (900 mm wide) and operated ,or pneumatically operated, bi fold doors.
Double rear doors can also be provided if wheelchair or trolley access is required. Ramps can be of various lengths and widths.
Interior
The internal layout and features are configured to meet each customer’s specific needs and application. Shelving and storage facilities are custom designed, as are the seating areas and any other fixtures such as desks, tables, partitions etc.
Floors are covered with floor coverings to suit client requirements, typically Alto safety flooring or carpet. All vehicles are fully insulated to provide both thermal and noise insulation
Electrical fittings and lighting
Standard lighting is full-length fluorescent interior lighting with blue nightlights. Mounted above entrance doors are halogen spotlights illuminated upon door operation when vehicle exterior lights are in operation. Also supplied is a drivers cab light. All interior lighting is operated from the driver’s switch panel located to the RHS of the drivers cab. Other, customer specified, interior lighting configurations can also be accommodated.
Externally mounted high level repeater lights are supplied and consist of two turn indicators, one centrally mounted LED brake light and two LED red marker lights. All upper lighting is mounted on the rear face of the rear body panel so as not to increase the height on the vehicle.
An audible door buzzer is supplied and operates when doors are operated. An audible alarm is supplied and operates when reverse gear is selected.
A external, flush-mounted, reversing camera is mounted to the rear body panel with a reversing monitor mounted on the driver’s switch panel. The screen is mounted in such a way as not to interfere with the driver’s line of sight, while allowing forward and rearward peripheral vision (via the side mirror) when the screen is being used.
Electrical power sources are designed to meet client requirements and can include heavy duty batteries, diesel generators and UPS systems, depending on the loads and equipment fitted.
Heating
OEM chassis convection cab heater / demister is supplied as standard and the vents include four fully adjustable / closable positions to the front of the driver’s area. Optional Eberspacher diesel saloon heater with thermostatic controller can be mounted under the driver’s seat with outlet’s on the driver’s pedestal expelling heated air down the vehicle interior. Alternatively, a 5kw water heater system with roof mounted fan matrix unit ducting air to both front and rear of the saloon can be offered.
Ancillary Equipment
Two fire extinguishers are fitted within the vehicle, one at the front integrated into the front dash panel, one mounted elsewhere towards the rear of the vehicle. 1 x first aid kit is supplied as standard and is mounted to the rear offside of the vehicle.
Painting and Lettering
One solid colour will be supplied as standard. Special paint schemes, corporate logo’s, external livery and legal signage can be supplied to the customers requirements.
Engine
Volkswagen 2.5 litre 5 cylinder turbo diesel direct injection engine, Euro IV compliant. Catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter fitted.
Transmission
6 speed manual transmission, with Automatic Tiptronic transmission offered as an option.
Braking system
Hydraulically operated with ventilated discs all round and servo assistance. ABS and ASR fitted as standard, with cable operated park brake to rear axle.
Speed limiter
Road speed is set via engine management system and can be speed limited by the VW agent at P.D.I. Once this speed limit is set, it is irreversible without an engine management unit change.
Exhaust
The spent exhaust gases are expelled from the offside rear of the vehicle behind the rear wheel and away from the rear doors.
Tyres
Tyres are 215/60R17C 180/106T fitted to alloy wheels as standard and are interchangeable.
Fuel Cap
A lockable fuel cap is supplied as standard and is situated behind a fuel filler flap to the offside front of the vehicle.
Vehicle Security
All doors are manually lockable and are supplied with the appropriate amount of keys.
