Coach & Bus Live review

Bluebird exhibited their new Orion Plus 23 passenger low floor bus at this years show , and a newly restored 1929 Leyland Tiger TS2.

Both vehicles attracted a huge amount of interest, with the Orion Plus offering the possibility of reducing capital and running costs, and making some loss making routes economically viable. Fully accessible, the Orion Plus has a full length low flat floor, with no steps at the entrance or inside the vehicle.

The Bluebird stand was very busy throughout the show, and organisers reported visitor attendance up 6% on the previous show in 2009.

The Leyland Tiger has been restored by Bluebird apprentices with assistance and supervision from expreienced Bluebird coach builders. The Tiger is to take part in the Lord Mayors Show in London on Saturday 12th November.

Non Executive Director appointment
29th November 2010

Non Executive Director appointment

Bluebird Vehicles today announced the appointment of David J. Bagley as Non Executive Director.

Bluebird Vehicles is one of the UK’s largest producers of coach-built low floor accessible minibuses and is one of the fastest growing businesses in the sector.

Commenting on the appointment Rob Miller Managing Director said “we have had very strong growth over the last seven years and we want this to continue for the next seven years. To help us achieve the growth we need to increase our market share in the current trading sectors and importantly, make a number of strategic acquisitions.

We asked David to join the business as a non-exec director because he has a huge wealth of experience in corporate finance and structuring deals, David has spent most of his career working in corporate finance with companies like 3i, Ernst and Young, Barclays Bank and most recently Baker Tilly and we can benefit greatly from his contacts, knowledge and expertise.”

Commenting on his new appointment David Bagley said, “I enjoy working with ambitious, dynamic companies and Bluebird Vehicles Ltd is just such a business. The vehicle conversion market is ready for consolidation and Bluebird is uniquely well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities that this presents. I’m really looking forward to working with Rob and the team to deliver the next stage of the company's growth.”

In addition to Bluebird, David is a non-executive director of several businesses including the £90m private equity fund, Finance Yorkshire.
